A children’s book about kindness, confidence, and dog safety.
Dogs can be wonderful friends, but meeting a new dog starts with a question. Can I Pet Your Dog? helps children learn to pause, ask the owner, and give the dog space to feel comfortable.
A simple question can make every greeting safer.

Can I Pet Your Dog?
What children will learn:
Ask the owner before approaching a dog.
Wait for an answer and respect “no.”
Let the dog choose whether to come closer.
Use gentle hands and notice when a dog needs space.
Why we created this book
Our son, Amaré, has grown up around dogs. After more than ten years training dogs for military and personal protection work in Germany, we wanted to share one of the lessons we teach at home: loving dogs also means respecting their boundaries.
Can I Pet Your Dog? turns that lesson into a story families can read and talk about together.
For families, classrooms, and dog lovers
The book offers an easy starting point for conversations about asking permission, reading a situation, and treating animals with care. Whether a child has a dog at home or is meeting one for the first time, the goal is the same: a positive experience for the child and the dog.
