We are delighted to announce that Haus Amberg Shepherds, LLC has received certification from the SBA as a service-disabled veteran-owned small business.
Each year, the federal government allocates a portion of its contracting budget to businesses owned by veterans, with plans to award a minimum of 3% of all federal contracting dollars to SDVOSBs. This initiative provides SDVOSBs with the opportunity to compete for federal sole-source and set-aside contracts. Under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Vets First program, certified veteran-owned small businesses also gain additional opportunities to secure sole-source contracts and set-asides. In accordance with FAR 19.1406, SDVOSBs may be eligible for additional sole source options for requirements within any NAICS code, up to $4 million.
In the past, self-certified SDVOSBs were eligible for SDVOSB set-asides from all federal government agencies except for the VA, which required certifications through its program. However, the NDAA 2021 brought about changes, mandating that all SDVOSBs must be certified through the SBA to be awarded SDVOSB set-aside contracts. The NDAA 2021 granted a one-year grace period for self-certified SDVOSBs, allowing them until January 1, 2024. During this grace period, self-certified businesses had one year to apply for SDVOSB certification and could continue to rely on their self-certification to compete for non-VA SDVOSB set-aside contracts.
“We are so excited to have received the SDVOSB certification from the SBA, allowing us to fully participate and bid for Prime Contracts when our clients establish set-aside SDVOSB projects, assisting them in meeting their SDVOSB small business objectives.”
